Internal length and width
Measure wall to wall at the longest and widest point and note any curve or corner.
Before requesting a quote to carpet a mosque or prayer room you need a sound idea of the area and how the rows will sit. Use the calculator below for area with waste, then read how to deal with the mihrab, columns and entrances; we confirm the sizes at the free inspection.

Enter the hall length and width to estimate area with a waste allowance, then send the figures on WhatsApp. For the general method see how to measure your room.
Total area is only the start; mosques differ in detail and what matters is knowing what adds to or removes from the net area. For the overview of mosque carpet visit the mosque carpets section.
Measure wall to wall at the longest and widest point and note any curve or corner.
They change the shape of the area near the front wall and need careful cutting.
Each column takes part of the area and adds cutting around it.
Door positions decide the unrolling direction and where seams fall.
If there is a mezzanine or women’s hall, record them with separate measurements.
It sets the row direction, and with it the carpet line direction and seam points.
Rows decide how many people a hall holds and how the lines are laid on the carpet. The calculation depends on row width, row depth and the width given to each worshipper, which vary with the design, so we confirm them with you at the inspection.
Divide the hall width available to the row by the width you allow for each worshipper. As an illustration only, if the row is ten metres wide and you allow eighty centimetres each, that is about twelve worshippers. Replace the numbers with your mosque’s own.
Divide the available length by the row depth. Then multiply the number of rows by the worshippers per row for an approximate capacity, and remember to subtract free aisles.
Area gives carpet quantity, while rows decide the line design and layout. That is why we review the dimensions with you before ordering and explain the unrolling direction and cutting points.
For lines and colours see mosque carpet colours and designs, and for cost factors mosque carpet price factors.
The calculator gives an estimate for a rectangular area; halls with special shapes need extra treatment. These are the main cases we review at the inspection.
Split it into simple rectangles, work out each area and add them up. This gives a closer estimate than a single measurement.
You may subtract column area from the total to estimate net area, but remember that cutting around them adds waste, so do not cut the waste allowance too far.
It needs a dedicated cut that follows its shape and usually lifts waste a little. We state this in the written quote.
If you are replacing old carpet, see mosque carpet replacement for removal and preparation stages, and old carpet removal.
Choose a higher waste allowance for halls with columns, a mihrab and irregular shapes, and a lower one for simple rectangular halls.
Area gives the quantity, but the quality of the fit-out also depends on the material and the preparation. These points help when you review a quote or compare two.
Mosques see heavy traffic and repeated prostration, so good density and a durable pile that does not flatten quickly are valuable. See the carpet quality and density guide.
An underlay adds comfort, softens sound and protects the floor, but it adds to cost and height. Details are in the underlay guide.
Carpet is unrolled in lengths and seamed at joints according to row direction, taking door positions into account. We explain this during the inspection and mark the unrolling direction.
The line colour and carpet background affect the look and how dust shows. See mosque carpet colours and designs.

A continuous floor with clear row lines.

A different colour that suits the hall design.

Rolls are unrolled and cut to the confirmed sizes.
New carpet needs a simple routine to keep it, especially in mosques that receive large numbers daily and in busy seasons.
Daily or near-daily vacuuming stops dust building between fibres and keeps the place clean and comfortable. See mosque carpet care.
Treat any stain as soon as it happens with a suitable method; a useful guide is our carpet stain removal guide.
Good ventilation keeps the smell fresh and prevents damp, and helps the carpet dry after cleaning.
When the carpet ages and repair gets hard, consider mosque carpet replacement; we help you estimate area and duration beforehand.

Prepare these details to get a more accurate and faster quote.
| Item | What to prepare | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Area | Hall length and width | To estimate carpet quantity |
| Columns | Number and dimensions | To work out waste and cutting |
| Mihrab | Position and shape | To set the special cut |
| Floors | Any upper floors or women’s hall | To estimate separate areas |
| Current floor | Old carpet or tile | To set preparation and removal |
Measure twice and write the numbers clearly before sending them.
Even a simple hall needs waste because of cutting and matching.
Measuring on site is more accurate than any estimate from photos.
Pick a colour and density that suit your worshipper numbers and cleaning routine.
Multiply length by width (length × width = area) and add a suitable waste allowance. For irregular halls, split them into rectangles and calculate each one separately.
It varies with the hall shape: a simple rectangle needs less, a hall with columns, a mihrab and special shapes needs more. We set it with you after the inspection.
It estimates area only. Rows are explained on this page with a simple manual method, and we confirm them with you at the inspection.
You can, to estimate net area, but do not cut the waste allowance much because cutting around columns uses carpet.
Divide the row width by the width allowed per worshipper, then multiply by the number of rows. Values vary with design and we confirm them at the inspection.
Yes, we serve mosques and prayer rooms of all sizes, and for large projects we arrange an inspection and a work plan.
We plan fitting stages around prayer times as far as possible and agree them beforehand with those in charge of the mosque.
We show the available types and colours during the inspection. See the colours and designs page for ideas.
Removal and preparation go into the quote when needed, shown as a separate item after the inspection.
Send the calculator figures and photos of the hall on WhatsApp; we arrange a free inspection inside Riyadh and then send the itemised quote.
