Mini football pitches

Artificial Grass for Mini Football Pitches in Riyadh — From Base Preparation to Line Marking

A mini football pitch at a rest house, school, club or villa garden is not like decorative lawn: running, stopping, sliding and a rolling ball call for the right pile, a level base, good drainage and accurate lines. We explain what really affects performance and what we check before we lay. Free inspection in Riyadh.

What matters

Six issues that decide the quality of an artificial grass pitch

For the general sports grass types see sports artificial grass in Riyadh. Here we focus on mini football pitches.

A level surface

Football exposes any undulation. A level base reduces irregular bounce and protects knees and ankles.

Drainage

Standing water ruins the base and creates wet patches. We check the fall and the points where rain and wash water leave.

Pile and density

Pile and density affect how running feels, how the ball rolls and how traffic is tolerated, and we read the product data rather than guess.

Infill

Some sports grass is used with sand or another infill depending on the product, and the manufacturer’s instructions decide whether and how much.

Lines and goals

Pitch lines, boundaries and goal positions are set out accurately before or during fixing, depending on the type of line.

Heat and cleaning

Exposed surfaces heat up in summer and need clearing of dust and leaves, and we explain what care is needed.

Choosing the grass

How do we compare grass for a mini pitch?

No single product suits every pitch, and the right one varies with level of play, hours of use and age.

A practical comparison that we confirm on site according to the level of play and the location
How it is usedWhat we look forWhat we watch
Recreational family playMedium-height grass with a comfortable feelLevel and drainage matter more than choosing the most expensive product
Rest house or private pitch with moderate useDurable pile with good densityChecking whether the product needs infill according to the manufacturer
School or academy with heavy useA product made for intensive sportWe look at durability and a maintenance plan
Indoor pitch inside a hallLow-pile grass for trainingA firm floor beneath and good fixing
Rooftop pitchGrass and drainage suited to a calculated loadThe load on the slab and waterproofing

Pile heights, densities and performance standards differ between products, so we rely on the product data and manufacturer’s instructions and do not quote unconfirmed figures.

Preparation and fitting

The steps that decide how long the pitch lasts

The base is half the result. For the general fitting details read artificial grass installation in Riyadh.

Some people think choosing the grass is the most important decision, but a football pitch usually fails because of the base: undulations, standing water or edges that move. So we treat preparation as the most important part of the job. To pick the right pile height for sport or home use, read our artificial grass heights guide.

Levelling the ground and base

We check the existing ground: soil, concrete or tile. On soil, weeds and roots are removed and the area is levelled and compacted in suitable layers; on concrete we check the level, cracks and fall. We avoid laying over a loose base because it settles and shows ripples.

Drainage and fall

The ground is shaped with a slight fall so water can leave, and we consider drain openings or a permeable layer under the grass on soil. If the pitch is on a roof we check the roof drainage and waterproofing before any laying, and we distinguish a ground pitch from a roof one in terms of load and drainage. The roof details are in rooftop artificial grass in Riyadh.

Laying and joins

The grass is rolled out and left to relax, then edges are trimmed and joins glued with suitable adhesive and tape. Pile directions are aligned across all sections so colour differences do not show at the joins. We follow the manufacturer’s instructions for fixing.

Infill and brushing

If the product needs infill, it is spread in the recommended amount and type, then brushed so the fibres stand up. Periodic brushing after use keeps the look and spreads the infill.

Lines and boundaries

Pitch lines, the centre circle and the goal area are set out either with inlaid lines in a different colour or with paint suited to the grass, depending on the product. Dimensions are agreed with the owner according to the number of players.

What is outside our scope

Fencing, lighting and goals vary by site, and we can coordinate with you or your contractor around them, stating clearly what we do and do not carry out before work begins.

Work steps

How we plan a mini football pitch

  1. Inspect and measure

We visit the site, measure the pitch and check the ground, fall and drainage points.

  2. Define the use

We agree the number of players, level of play and hours of use.

  3. Choose the product

We show samples and read the product data and its infill needs.

  4. Prepare and lay

We level and drain, then lay and fix joins and edges.

  5. Lines and handover

We mark the lines, brush the grass and hand over with care guidance.

Care

How to look after an artificial grass pitch

Clear leaves and dust with a broom or blower, and brush the fibres regularly so they stand up and spread any infill. Wash the pitch with water when needed according to the manufacturer’s instructions, and do not leave sticky material such as gum or paint on it.

Watch edges and joins and deal with any lifting early, and avoid dragging heavy objects over the surface. In summer, a light water spray cools the surface briefly before play. For more see artificial grass maintenance in Riyadh.

Questions about mini football pitch grass

What is the best artificial grass for a mini football pitch?

It depends on the level of play and use. We read the product data for durability, density and infill needs, and decide after inspection.

Does the grass need infill?

Some products do and some do not. We follow the manufacturer’s instructions and tell you what is needed before you buy.

How does water drain from the pitch?

Through a slight fall in the ground and openings or a permeable layer under the grass on soil, and we check drainage before laying, especially on roofs.

Can a pitch be laid over concrete?

Yes if the concrete is level and drained, and we may add a suitable layer under the grass depending on the product.

Do you mark the pitch lines?

We agree the type of lines and dimensions with the owner and set them out with the laying or afterwards, depending on the product.

How long does a mini pitch take?

It depends on the area, the ground and the drainage and preparation needed. We give a schedule after inspection rather than a general estimate.

Do you do fencing and lighting?

These vary by site, and we explain what we carry out and what is coordinated with another party before work starts.

What should I send to get a quote?

Photos and rough measurements of the site, the ground type, the number of players and your timing, then we confirm the quote after inspection. For cost factors see artificial grass prices in Riyadh.
