Uses

Where is grass fitted on walls?

Wall grass is used for decoration, for covering, and sometimes to bring a natural touch where real planting will not fit. If you are also thinking about the floor, see our artificial grass in Riyadh section.

Garden and outdoor majlis walls

A green backdrop behind a seating or barbecue area changes the feel of the place and hides an old or mismatched wall.

Balconies and terraces

Covering a balcony wall adds a natural touch in a small space and matches the floor; see balcony artificial grass.

Shops and cafés

A green wall at the front or behind the till is photogenic and gives the venue a clear visual identity.

Children’s rooms and play areas

A soft coloured feature on one wall, choosing fibres suitable for touch; also read children’s room flooring.

Rest houses and chalets

Outdoor seating walls are a good place for wall grass, with hidden lighting in the evening.

Fences and boundary walls

Covering an iron fence or mesh to reduce visibility from outside and add permanent greenery.

Wall and fixing

What do we check on the wall before fitting?

How well wall grass holds depends on the wall surface and the fixing method. So we always start with an inspection: we touch the wall, measure its area, look at the paint and moisture and height, and then choose the right method.

Concrete and rendered walls

If the wall is sound and clean it can be fixed after removing dust and flaking paint. If the render is peeling or damp, we treat that first so the grass does not detach over time.

Wooden and metal surfaces

Metal fences and wooden panels need fixing suited to the material, and we may use battens or intermediate boards to spread the pull and prevent edges lifting.

Pile height

For walls we usually suggest shorter pile because it is lighter and neater at the edges, but the choice changes with the place and the feel you want. We explained height differences in our artificial grass height guide.

Sun and ventilation

Sun-exposed walls need a type suited to outdoor use, and we avoid fitting where air does not move if there is trapped damp behind the wall.

Design ideas

Three designs customers ask for

The design starts from the wall itself, its lighting and the floors and furniture next to it.

Pergola and garden path with green grass

Hidden lighting highlights the green wall’s texture in the evening.

How to choose

Five steps to a grass wall

  1. Define the purpose

Decoration, covering a fence or a photo wall? The purpose sets pile height and density.

  2. Send photos of the wall

One general photo and one close-up of the surface and edges are enough for a first assessment.

  3. Check the surface

We confirm the wall is sound, dry and free of flaking before fixing.

  4. Choose colour and density

Compare samples in your own light; colour changes between sun and shade.

  5. Fitting and finishing

We cut precisely at corners and openings and fix the edges so they do not lift.

Quick table

What suits each wall type

General comparison of wall types and what we check before fixing
What we checkNote
Painted concrete wallPaint adhesion and surface cleanlinessWe clean the surface and treat flaking before any fixing.
Damp wallThe source of the moistureWe treat the cause first so the grass does not detach.
Iron fence or meshFrame stabilityWe use suitable fixing and spread the pull over a wider area.
Wooden boardSoundness and flatness of the woodWe fix in a way that prevents the edges swelling.
Inside or outside cornerCorner shape and heightWe cut and wrap the edge precisely to hide joints.

These are general guidelines; we set the final method after inspection and quote no specifications or guarantees that the product data does not support.

Ask yourself

Six questions that help define the wall’s specification

Before you send us photos, try answering these questions; they save a lot of time at the inspection and make the quote more accurate.

Is the wall indoor or outdoor?

Outdoor walls face sun, dust and wind, and need a type suited to outdoor use and stronger fixing.

What are the wall’s height and width?

The area sets the quantity, and a large height may require splitting pieces in a way that hides the joints.

What is the condition of the paint?

Flaking or blistered paint must be removed before fixing, or its effect will show on the grass later.

Is there damp or a leak?

Damp patches are a sign to treat before covering, because hiding does not stop the problem.

Will you add lighting or wiring?

Electrical runs and lighting are planned before fixing so we do not have to redo work on the wall.

Who will reach the wall to clean it?

Designing the wall so its top and edges can be reached makes it easy to maintain for years.

Design idea

How do you blend a grass wall with the floor?

The best installations look coordinated: a grass floor and a green wall of a close but not identical shade, with a profile between the two surfaces or a slim metal trim at the lower edge.

Where there is side or strip lighting it is worth testing it before deciding because shadow changes the colour tone. We also advise protecting the wall from direct water spray and from strong heat sources.

  • Pick colours by looking at the wall’s own light
  • Use an edge trim at floor level
  • Think of maintenance and easy access for cleaning

When it may not suit

Cases we review honestly with you before work

A wall with repeated leaks

If water runs down the wall constantly, grass will not cure the problem and may trap moisture behind it. We treat the source or suggest another solution.

A very hot surface

Metal surfaces facing the sun can get very hot in summer. We discuss the type and fixing or suggest shade to ease the heat.

Walls touched often

Places with frequent child contact or rubbing need stronger fixing and a fibre type suited to touch.

A very tight budget

If the aim is only decoration, a small area with greater visual impact may be enough rather than covering a full wall. We price both options.

Common mistakes

Mistakes we avoid with wall grass

Fixing on a damp wall

Moisture weakens the adhesive and makes the grass detach gradually. We treat the source, then fit.

Choosing very long blades

Long blades droop and weigh down the edge on a wall. We suggest a height that fits the place.

Neglecting corners

Corners and openings reveal workmanship most, so we measure them accurately and fix their edges well.

Not thinking of cleaning

Dust collects on grass. Design the wall so it can be reached and cleaned easily.

How we work

From the first photo to handover

We begin with a photo of the wall and its dimensions, then visit to measure and check the surface and show grass samples in different colours and heights. You choose what you like and we write a clear quote stating quantity, fixing and finishing.

On the day we prepare the surface, cut the grass to size, fix it and finish the edges and corners, then clean the site and advise on care. If you also want a grass floor with the wall we plan both together.

  • Inspection and measuring with no obligation
  • Real samples in your own light
  • Clean finishing and tidy handover

Care

How to look after a green wall

Dust it off

Dusting with a soft cloth or a suitable brush keeps the colour and stops dirt building up between the blades.

Spray with care

A light spray removes dust, but avoid keeping the wall constantly wet so the fixing points are not affected.

Watch the edges

Check the edges regularly and refix any point that has lifted before it spreads.

Estimate the area

Estimate the wall area before requesting a quote

Enter the wall height and width in metres. We multiply them to get the area and add a waste allowance. Send the result on WhatsApp with a photo of the wall.

Common questions about wall grass

Can artificial grass be fitted on any wall?

On most sound, dry walls yes, but we inspect the surface first. A damp or flaking wall needs treatment, and a metal fence or wood needs a fixing method suited to the material.

What pile height suits wall grass?

We usually suggest shorter heights because they are lighter on the wall and neater at the edges, but a taller pile can be chosen for a richer effect depending on the place. We show samples and decide the best at the inspection.

Does wall grass handle sun?

There are types suited to outdoor use, and we choose among them by how much sun the wall gets. Our quote names the grass type and explains its suitable use as stated in the product data.

How is a grass wall cleaned?

Regular dusting and removing dirt is enough in most cases, and a light spray can be used when needed. For details read artificial grass maintenance.

Can it be fitted indoors?

Yes for some uses such as children’s rooms and decorative walls, choosing a soft-feel type and fixing the edges well. We discuss the purpose and place at the inspection.

Will the joint between pieces show?

We plan the blade direction and joint positions to make them less visible, and we fix the edges carefully. Joints can be made much less noticeable with good cutting plans but cannot always be hidden completely.

Do you list prices?

We do not publish fixed prices because they change with the type, the wall area and the fixing method. We send a written quote after inspection, and the factors are on artificial grass prices.

What should I send for an initial assessment?

Send a general photo of the wall and a close-up of the surface, its approximate size, whether it is indoor or outdoor, and the wall type if you know it. With this we can give a first idea before the inspection.
