Seating comfort
With floor seating the guest touches the floor directly, so the feel, thickness and warmth of the floor matter more than in any other room.
A traditional majlis is a room where guests sit on the floor or on low seating, shoes come off, and coffee, dates and incense are served. So it is not enough to ask about colour: we ask about comfort, cleanliness, wear and how people sit. We compare carpet, rugs, parquet and vinyl clearly and show what suits your majlis. Free inspection in Riyadh.

For the rugs themselves, with types and patterns, see majlis rugs in Riyadh. Here we cover the whole floor and how to choose it.
With floor seating the guest touches the floor directly, so the feel, thickness and warmth of the floor matter more than in any other room.
Shoes usually come off at the door, which keeps the floor cleaner, but bare feet notice roughness and cold.
Spills happen in hospitality, so we look at ease of cleaning and stain removal.

There is no single answer, as each option has strengths and limits.
| Option | Suits | Watch for |
|---|---|---|
| Majlis rug over a hard floor | A traditional look and the option to replace | Securing the rug at the edges so it does not slide, and cleaning it periodically |
| Roll carpet across the whole majlis | Warmth, comfort and a quieter room in large majlis | Stains and dust, so choose a durable texture |
| Parquet | A refined look and the warmth of wood | Care with water and spills, and periodic maintenance |
| Vinyl | Easy cleaning and good everyday tolerance | Often covered with a rug in the floor-seating area for more comfort |
| Tile or marble plus a rug | A floor you already have | Add a rug or carpet for comfort and to reduce echo |
On site we explain the strengths and limits of each option and do not push one that does not suit how you use the room.
We start with these questions before any sample. For the general comparison read vinyl, parquet or tiles?.
The majlis has its own character in a Saudi home: it is the first hospitality room, usually the largest and the busiest on occasions. So we build the flooring decision on how it is actually used rather than on looks alone.
If the seating is entirely on the floor, feel, thickness and comfort under the body matter, and soft carpet or rugs lead. If there are low seats or sofas, the floor is seen more than it is felt, so parquet or vinyl with a central rug can suit.
Roll carpet covers the majlis with few joins and gives a quieter room and warmth when sitting. It needs periodic cleaning and quick stain treatment, and a suitable underlay improves comfort. The fitting details are in carpet installation in Riyadh.
Many people prefer a firm fixed floor and a large rug in the centre of the majlis. Parquet gives a refined look but dislikes spills and water, while SPC vinyl is easier to clean and less sensitive to water. In both cases a central rug softens echo and protects the floor under the seating.
Majlis rooms that receive many guests need a floor that takes traffic, cups and children, and we may suggest a durable texture or replaceable sections. We work out quantities from the room dimensions and the positions of columns and openings.
